What is a laminar flow hood in Lab furniture?

A laminar flow hood, also known as a laminar flow cabinet or clean bench, is a type of lab furniture designed to create a sterile work environment. It provides an aseptic space by directing air through a filtration system, usually a High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter, which removes contaminants such as dust, airborne particles, and microorganisms. The filtered air flows in a unidirectional (laminar) stream over the work surface, ensuring that the environment remains free from particulates.

There are two types of laminar flow hoods

Horizontal Laminar Flow Hood :- Air flows from the back of the hood towards the operator.
Vertical Laminar Flow Hood :- Air flows from the top of the hood down to the work surface.

These hoods are commonly used in laboratories working with sterile cultures, electronics, pharmaceuticals, or any field requiring contamination-free handling. They do not protect the user from hazardous substances, as they are primarily designed to protect the sample being handled. Lab Creator is a Leading Manufacturer of Laminar Flow Hood.
