Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University distance education was constituted in July 1989. It was established by the Maharashtra State Legislature Act XX of 1989 and was rightly named after the great political leader of Maharashtra and the founder of modern Maharashtra Yashwantrao Chavan.
