Air Canada requires that children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a passenger aged 16 or older when traveling. The Unaccompanied Minor (UM) service is mandatory for children aged 8 to 11 traveling alone. For youths aged 12 to 17, the UM service is optional.

The UM service is available only on non-stop flights operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, or Air Canada Express (operated by Jazz). It is not offered on connecting or codeshare flights.

To arrange the UM service, parents or guardians must contact Air Canada Reservations in advance, as the service cannot be arranged at the airport on the day of departure.
