Until a kidney stone travels within the kidney or into one of the ureters, it usually doesn’t cause any symptoms. Ureters are the tubes that connect the kidneys and bladder. First Signs of Kidney Stones can produce severe spasms in the ureters if they become stuck in them, enlarge the kidney, and impede the passage of urine. By then, you may experience the following symptoms:
- severe stabbing pain in the side and back behind the ribcage
- lower abdominal and groin pain that radiates
- waves of agony that fluctuate in strength and duration
- Experiencing pain or burning while urinating
- Whether it is brown, crimson, or pink urine
- muddy or odorous poop
- persistent need to urinate, frequent or sporadic urination, or minimal urination
- nausea and vomiting
- Fever and chills if you have an infection
