Things to know about Colon Cancer and its treatment

Cancer is essentially a never-ending cycle of cell division. If it is not diagnosed in time, it may spread to other organs. As a result, early detection is critical. Colon cancer usually affects older persons. In most cases, it starts with little noncancerous masses known as polyps. When left untreated, it eventually progresses to cancer.

In certain circumstances, the doctor eliminates the malignant region of the colon; nevertheless, removing a portion of it has little effect on its function. To avoid cancer, experts prescribe regular screenings and health check-ups. When colon cancer spreads to the rectal area, it is known as colorectal cancer.
