The Importance of Autoclaving in Sterilizing Lab Equipment

Autoclaving works by producing pressurized, saturated steam that eliminates micro-organisms and spores. Just like paper and latex materials, plastic pipette tips need to be autoclaved when discarded as waste, secured in a biohazard bag. Additionally, micropipettes and bottle top dispensers can be autoclaved at 121°C and 15 psi for 15-20 minutes to achieve effective sterilization.
