Hi Krish, great to meet you. I’m Jens Dressler. I graduated in computer science in 2004 and then started working in the semiconductor test equipment industry where I worked for eight years. I worked there as a software R&D engineer, software architect, and so forth. I wanted to do something different afterwards. I went to Berlin and I wanted to start my own company. I met three Swedish guys and we started this company called Vamos. Vamos was an event discovery platform. It was my first startup experience. It was a small team – lots of fun, lots of work as well, and very challenging at the same time. I found it to be incredibly rewarding and it gave me avenues to meet a lot of people in Berlin. This was a great three years. Then we got acquired. I moved with the company to the new company that acquired us, which was called Fanmiles there.
At FanMiles, I started as a CTO. Since they didn’t have an internal tech team, I built up an internal tech team and we insourced everything tech because they were working with three different suppliers which were bigger companies. One of the companies was building the transaction backend. We insourced it because we needed to move faster and cut costs. I led a team of roughly 20 people. In 2018, I left the company and ventured into consulting – did work for other startups, and built up tech teams and other startups.
We do project work primarily on our platform, which gives us two things. It gives us a runway, and at the same time, it gives us new customers.
