Nestled in the remote Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh, Tabo Monastery is a timeless sanctuary of spiritual and historical significance. Founded in 996 AD by the Tibetan Buddhist king Yeshe-Ö, this ancient monastery is often referred to as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas” due to its magnificent murals and intricate frescoes. The monastery complex houses nine temples, several stupas, and a vast collection of ancient scriptures and thangkas (Buddhist paintings on cloth).
