RSS3 rubber prices move up in Delhi market

In the Delhi rubber market, the price of Ribbed Smoked Sheet (RSS) Grade 3 has seen a moderate increase. On May 31st, the rate stood at Rs.165 per kilogram, which has now risen to Rs.168 per kilogram as of June 2nd—marking a Rs.3/kg hike. This price increase is being attributed to improved demand in the domestic market and a slight tightening in supply. With the onset of pre-monsoon buying activity, stockists have begun replenishing their inventories, pushing prices upward. According to local traders, the demand for natural rubber had remained steady over the past few weeks, but activity in the transport and manufacturing sectors is picking up again, boosting rubber consumption. Additionally, a slight slowdown in supplies from South India has also added upward pressure on prices. Key Producers in Focus: India’s RSS3 rubber production is largely concentrated in the southern state of Kerala. Notable domestic producers include Harrisons Malayalam Ltd., Kottayam Rubber Company, Indus Rublatex Pvt. Ltd., and Kavanar Latex, with regulatory and developmental oversight from the Rubber Board of India. Internationally, major producers such as Sri Trang Agro-Industry (Thailand), PT Kirana Megatara Tbk (Indonesia), and Top Glove Corporation (Malaysia) play a significant role in the global RSS3 market. Disruptions or export fluctuations from these regions often influence rubber prices in Indian markets, especially in metro hubs like Delhi. Market analysts suggest that if this trend continues, prices may climb further and could cross Rs.170 per kilogram by mid-June.
