How durable is engineered wood flooring?

Engineered wood flooring is highly durable, offering excellent resistance to wear and tear. Its layered construction, with a hardwood veneer on top and plywood or high-density fiberboard (HDF) beneath, makes it more stable than solid wood, particularly in fluctuating temperatures and humidity.

The top layer can endure scratches, dents, and foot traffic, especially when coated with a protective finish. While not as tough as materials like tile, engineered wood flooring can be refinished a few times, depending on the veneer thickness, prolonging its lifespan. With proper care, it can last 20-30 years, making it a durable and stylish flooring option.
