The enthralling green-colored crystal, Green Amethyst, is also popular as prasiolite. Prasiolite is made up of two ancient Greek origin words; they are prason, which means ‘leek’, and lithos, which means ‘stone’. Due to its green tint, which resembles a leek and hexagonal prismatic shape, the gemstone acquires this name. The crystal officially got its name in the mid 20th century before it was denoted as peridine, chrysoquartz, vermarine, Indian emerald, green quartz or emerald quartz.
