Exploring the Historic Fort William: A Symbol of Colonial Legacy in Kolkata

Fort William is  located on the eastern banks of the Hooghly River in Kolkata. It  is a remarkable example of British colonial architecture, built in 1696 and later expanded in the 18th century, this fort played a key role in British India’s military defense. Surrounded by lush greenery and sprawling grounds, Fort William is now the headquarters of the Eastern Command of the Indian Army. Though visitors cannot enter the fort without special permission, its impressive exterior and historical significance make it a must-see landmark for history enthusiasts and tourists alike.
