The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is bringing back its interstate bus services after a 23-year gap. The new DTC Interstate Bus Service will connect Delhi with several cities in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and even Bengaluru, including popular educational hubs like Kota.
In a recent board meeting, DTC received approval to operate premium buses on these routes, featuring a mix of electric buses for shorter trips (up to 200 km) and BS-6 compliant diesel buses for longer distances.
The fleet will include luxury buses with modern amenities such as app-based ticketing, GPS, CCTV cameras, and panic buttons to ensure passenger safety. The relaunch is part of DTC’s initiative to make public transport a more attractive and eco-friendly option for commuters.
DTC had previously operated interstate buses until 2004, but the service was discontinued. The decision to restart these routes is aimed at improving connectivity and encouraging greater use of sustainable travel options.
